    [COMMENTAIRE] => Reachable from the hamlet of Boutavent (on the Commune of Vescles), the castle of Oliferne, built in the 13th century, 807 m. high, at the top of the "peak of Oliferne", remains an incomparable belvedere. It dominates the valleys of the Bienne and the Ain but also the Lyonnais, Savoy, Bugey, Switzerland, Bresse, Burgundy. The Roman colonies established an observation tower in order to control navigation on Biel and Ain. Despite being considered impregnable, the troops of the King of France Henry IV invaded the Franche-Comté in 1592 and destroyed many castles including Oliferne.
A path dotted with explanatory panels will allow you to discover the surrounding walls, the castle's house, the cistern, the views and captivating legends.
